Forgive Me? 05/14/2010

It's been so long since I've blogged that I don't even know where to begin...
How about the watered down bulleted version with a few pictures.  Good?  Okay.
  • At the end of February I headed off to D.C. to visit Andy during his training.  Lots of walking, site seeing, and eating at some sweet restaurants.
  • My sweet grandma, who I had been living with, passed away the day I got home from my trip, so it was a crazy time.  She went quickly and was ready to go, but I still miss her.  Spencer misses her too, he lost his reading buddy.
  • A week after the funeral, Spencer and I packed ourselves up and moved to SoCal to meet the movers.  Andy made it a week later, the longest week of my life!
  • A month later I took off for Utah (some people didn't even know I had left) to come early for my sister's wedding.  Andy went out of town, I was done being here alone, so it worked out, but I have taken a vow never to "vacation" with Spencer and without Andy again!  Andy flew out for the wedding as well as Erica, Landon and their newest addition and it was a great time!  We're all excited to have Steele as a part of the fam now, but I'm not so sure he knew what he was getting himself into.  Too late now!
  • Before Andy got there Spencer, Grandma O. and I went on Grandpa's bus and he loved it!  He also loved his cousin Gryphon's jeep and would throw his little foot on the accelerator and rarely look where he was going...
That in a nutshell is why I have avoided/been lazy about blogging.  Now that we're finally settled I'm going to commit to it again.  I'll even blog next week...how about that?

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I'm typing this post.  The original one would have come out ten days ago, but when my entire post was deleted as I was putting in the last element I just couldn't bring myself to come back until now.

With that said, back to our month of firsts.  The first first is not a happy one, but needed to be mentioned.  Our poor little guy got the flu for the first time and was sick all over the carpet and twice on mommy.  I was so proud of myself for getting him all of the flu shots you could possibly get...oh well, I just have tell myself that it would have been worse without them.

My birthday was a few weeks ago and though a lady never reveals her age, let's just say that there might possibly be a 3 somewhere in that number.  Well, I was feeling sorry for myself since Andy is thousands of miles away and I still had a sick baby.  With my dad babysitting, I was headed to a movie with my mom.  I got a surprise party instead!  It was my first one ever and it was so much fun.  The downside to not knowing you're going to a party is not being able to dress up or even put on a little lipstick, so goes life :).  The biggest surprise of all was my cute husband flew all the way here to be with me!  I love surprises!!

This is by far my favorite, my little man being rejected by a girl for the first time.  He's not used to people turning down his kisses, but his friend Sasha was having nothing to do with it.  The best part is, he tried long enough for me to laugh, grab my camera and still get some footage.  I love it!

I don't even know where to begin, but when groups of you are emailing me asking for an update I know I've waited way too long.  Let's see, first Andy finally finished officer training and came home right before Christmas.  These are super late, but we can't leave out Christmas pictures.
Right after Christmas we headed down to So Cal so Andy could check in at work and we could find a place to live.  Two weeks is a really long time to live in a hotel with a child, but we made it.  We learned to whisper ALL the time once he was asleep and watched about ten dvd's while huddled around the laptop with one headphone each.  While we were down there we did some sightseeing in Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs and Disneyland.  While the rest of the U.S. was freezing we were hanging out in 60-70 degree weather.  No worries though folks because come summertime we will be experiencing the upper 100's...blah.

Disneyland

Thanks to my mom for flying down to drive back with me since Andy still has three months of training to go to.  Her reward was Disneyland.  We had such a fun time.  Spencer cried through a few rides, but had a good time overall.  He especially loved the street parade, but after the third time of seeing it I was about to rip my hair out.  You will notice how happy he is standing on the fake grass against the fake rock.  This was his favorite part of the whole day, just running back and forth for a half-hour.  We had to rip him away from it.

The Abode

For those of you that stuck in there during this huge post, here a few pics of our new house.  I am excited about it, but scared to death of the bugs that we will have living with us...scorpions, fire ants, black widows, brown recluses, rattle snakes...you get the idea.  My Aunt Linda, who lives in Texas, pointed out that you never really get used to them, awesome!  And yes, the yard is done, no grass can survive the summers there.

Well, since Andy has now been gone for two weeks, it's probably time to share the news...he joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Administrator.  He is currently in Rhode Island in Officer Training.  Yes, it is just like you imagine, lots of push ups, waking up at 4:00 am and regulations for everything, but not as intense as Basic Training.  After some job training at the beginning of the year we'll be headed to sunny Southern California!  If you want more details than that you'll have to call or email :).

He may not be the only one, but he sure is a stinkin' cute Tigger!  Good times were had with the cousins, grandparents and neighborhood.

Birthday Boy 09/05/2009

I can't believe that our little guy is one!  What a year it's been and to celebrate we had a little party for him.  Let's be honest, we had a party for us and he wandered around trying to figure out why everyone was paying so much attention to him.  Below are the highlights.

The theme was "The First Year Flew By", complete with an airplane pinata, in-flight meal, barf bags filled with toys for the kiddos and the baggage dropoff filled with fabulous gifts for the birthday boy.
The intro to sugar was a cupcake for this birthday boy because he LOVES his food and whatever is put in front of him is consumed.  I think he liked it...

So Busy 07/10/2009

There are several reasons for my absence from blogging.  One would be our moving from Ann Arbor to Utah for the summer, but I'll save the details of that for a later post.  This is what has been taking up most of our time...

We've finally moved from the belly crawl to the real deal.

We have a walker! He looks like a drunken little sailor throwing his body every which direction as he toddles around, it's awesome.

Most recently is the dancing done to music and sometimes to nothing at all.

Shipshe-whata? 06/03/2009

That would be Shipshewana, Indiana, home of the Amish.  On Memorial Day we decided to head out there with our good friends and see what all the talk was about.  The Amish people really are so fascinating.  I had about a thousand questions, but thought it might be rude to walk up to them and ask.  First we hit up the flea market, which we thought was going to be an Amish flea market.  Nope, just your regular flea market with the same regular crap for sale.  We quickly left and checked out the main street in town.  Below are some of the highlights.

Technically, you're not supposed to photograph the Amish because it's against their religion, so here is a picture of our friend Kim and there just happen to be Amish people in the background...whoops!  We also couldn't resist their buggies that have their own special parking spots.  Please note the beanies on all of the teenage Amish boys, it's totally the hip thing.  And yes, that is a Subway that they're hanging out at.
Here are the only pictures we got of us, really just the kiddos, but hey, what do you expect when it's four on four?

All About Andy 05/14/2009

We have had a couple of big events lately, both revolving around Andy.  The first one was graduation!  Yea, he finally has his MHSA (Master in Health Services Administration), which is in the department of HMP (Health Management & Policy), which is in the SPH (School of Public Health) at the U of M (University of Michigan). Whew! I had to sit here and clarify everything with Andy like I've had to do for the past two years.  Andy's parents came out for the commencement and it was a lot of fun to hang out with them.  Spencer loves it anytime he's around his grandmas.

Next, we have his birthday!  It is today and I won't tell you his age since I'm older and don't want everyone knowing :).  Tonight we went to a steak house and had an amazing dinner.  Besides our table being two feet from our neighbor's it was fantastic, even better since they give you 50% off your entire meal on your birthday.  We also had a combined party last week with our friend Derek.  I tried my hand at a blueberry cobbler from scratch, and if I do say so myself, it was pretty good :).
Please notice the fancy new graduation suit and the premiere of our birthday banner made by yours truly.

So Mad 05/11/2009

This is the face I got when I wouldn't give Spencer the camera...he REALLY wanted it.
